Darkj side of 8Well the dark-side of 8 (and in triplicate) was unleashed upon humanity, yet again; and the poor souls near the Erawan Shrine in Ratchaprasong, Bangkok, and their countrymen and loved ones felt it’s fury.

 

8 is regarded as the ‘lucky’ number in Chinese culture – it’s one reason why the Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony took place on 8th August 2008 – 888 in the new Millennium code, the full date also adds to 8. In the space in-between, from the 9th August 2008 (when the ceremony concluded and the games proper began) until yesterdays atrocity was 2564 days (adds to 17 and then 8), or 7 years and 8 days. How the Darkness has the hots for number 17. Ratchaprasong is crammed with 8-aspect related features and includes the Erawan (88) Shrine, which housed a statue of the Thai Brahma, Phra Phrom. 80 days prior to the Beijing Olympics a new statue had been dedicated (on an 8 date in an 8-year) there to replace one that had been severely vandalised 62 (8) full days beforehand.

A model’s life in London: Glamour, drama…and a demon lurking

It’s long way from where I am now and if I were ever to do it again I’d probably be better as ‘the before’ , rather than ‘the after’.

Back in about 1973 my sister, a very beautiful girl, decided she’s like to start modelling. It was during the summer, and she’s a year younger than me, so she’d have been about 18. We were living in Oxford but she’d heard of a well-known fashion photographer, called Ken Walker, who lived in Brighton; and she asked me to take her, which I did.
