Kirsten Robertson, Metro: A 95-year-old woman with dementia was tasered in a nursing home – and is now in critical condition in hospital.
An investigation has been launched following the incident in Cooma, a town in New South Wales, Australia.
Clare Nowland had been found holding a serrated steak knife in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Staff at the Yallambee Lodge nursing home had then contacted the emergency services around 4.15am.
Two officers rushed to the scene alongside paramedics and the group tried to ‘de-escalate the matter’ for a ‘number of minutes’, police said.
Ms Nowland had left her bedroom, taken a knife from a kitchen and walked to a medical treatment room.
The pensioner, who weighs just 43kg, was tasered by an officer as she slowly made her way towards the police.
She fell to the ground and hit her head.

Police have got away with uncalled for over-the-top violence for years. The past 2-3 years they’ve had a wail of a time with batons and horses and nightsticks and firearms and mace and tasers. A great many clearly have no humanity left in them. If a police officer can’t deal with a frail 95-year-old, 43kg lady without resorting to deadly force then they shouldn’t be in the job and when they do violently abuse their license, jail is the best place for them…and why did the care home staff call in the uniformed thugs anyway? Relatives trust their loved ones to be looked after by fully trained staff who should be well capable of dealing with situations like this.

Alexander Zhang, Epoch Times: The UK’s largest broadband and mobile provider will cut up to 55,000 jobs—more than 40 percent of its workforce—by the end of the decade amid plans to shift to artificial intelligence (AI) and automated services.
Telecoms giant BT Group has around 130,000 employees but said it plans to reduce that number to between 75,000 and 95,000 by 2030, which means between 40,000 and 55,000 roles could be cut.
The company has been working through a transformation plan to build a national fibre network and roll out high-speed 5G mobile services.

A new study has revealed a link between COVID-19 ‘vaccines’ and potential blindness due to Retinal Vascular Occlusion (RVO).
Hundreds of thousands worldwide have faced death or disability from ‘vaccine’ complications.
Taiwanese researchers analysed data from over 95 million individuals, excluding those with prior RVO history or blood coagulation medication.
‘Vaccinated’ individuals had a 2.19 times higher risk of RVO compared to the unvaccinated group at two years.
The risk of RVO increased significantly within the first two weeks ‘post-vaccination’ and persisted for 12 weeks.
No existing treatment can unblock retinal veins, meaning RVO-induced eye damage may be permanent.
