Personally I think this shiny-trousered wet dream should be cancelled altogether and everyone who has had anything to do with promoting it be made to move from wherever they are and made to cough up what this insane and murderous scheme has cost so far and use the money for causes that are genuinely beneficial to these Isles.

Ben Emlyn-Jones: A HPANWO TV roving review of the feature film Eyes Wide Shut. It was directed by Stanley Kubrick and was written by Stanley Kubrick and Frederic Raphael. It stars Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman and Stanley Pollack.

Released in the US on the massively potent esoteric date of 16th July (with its moon-landing hypno-spell connection too) Kubrick’s EWS was an heroic exposé of the deeply dark magickal undercurrents, players and lifestyles of the depraved sorts that are only now becoming visible in the e’er long blighted public regard. This is an article I wrote about it in 2002:

Yes I know. ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ is not exactly a new movie, and it has been mentioned on this site before. It is more than 3 years old now, but such is the regard this writer has for this film, I have decided to devote at least one page to it. The necessity of alerting readers to the implications it quite subtly reveals was amplified for me during November 2002, on a visit to Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, England.

“Eyes Wide Shut is a remarkable film. Every frame and the language used carries meaning. I offer an interpretation and some very brief observations.
I suggest the opening shot  is a summary of Eyes Wide Shut and the directors true intentions. Framed, framed? And in a few seconds.
Can you see the great pyramid made from the red curtains and the blind?  Are you blind?  Eyes wide shut?

ChtonicApophis: The scene known as “Masked Ball”, depicting an occult satanic ritual orgy, from Stanley Kubrick’s final masterpiece “Eyes Wide Shut” – when played in reverse, it is actually a Romanian Orthodox chant. The lyrics of the chant are as follows:
«Încă ne rugăm pentru mila, viaţa, pacea, sănătatea, mântuirea, cercetarea, lăsarea şi iertarea păcatelor robilor lui Dumnezeu, închinători, miluitori şi binefăcători ai sfântului lăcaşului acestuia. Zis-a Domnul către ucenicii săi: poruncă nouă vă dau vouă…»

The final piece that is featured in the movie was arranged and composed by Jocelyn Pook.

Pook was hired after choreographer Yolande Snaith rehearsed the masked ball orgy scene using Pook’s composition “Backwards Priests” – which features a Romanian Orthodox Divine Liturgy recorded in a church in Baia Mare, played backwards – as a reference track. Kubrick then called the composer and asked if she had anything else “weird” like that song, which was reworked for the final cut of the scene, with the title “Masked Ball”. Pook ended up composing and recording four pieces of music, many times based on her previous work, totaling 24 minutes. The composer’s work ended up having mostly string instruments – including a viola played by Pook herself – with no brass or woodwinds as Pook “just couldn’t justify these other textures”, particularly as she wanted the tracks played on dialogue-heavy scenes to be “subliminal” and felt such instruments would be intrusive. – Wikipedia

 

Jocelyn Pook Masked Ball Normal Version WITH LYRICS Masked Ball is a composition by Jocelyn Pook, used as theme for the infamous ritual scene of Stanley Kubrick’s film “Eyes Wide Shut”. The vocals are part of a Romanian Orthodox Divine liturgy recorded in a church in Baia Mare, played backwards. The piece is an adaptation by Jocelyn Pook of the song Backwards Priests from her album “Deluge”.

 

The English translation of the lyrics in the above video is not entirely correct. This is how they should read:

“Again we pray for mercy, life, peace, health, salvation, visitation, remission and forgiveness of the sins of the servants of God, pious, contributors and benefactors of this holy church.
And the Lord said to his apprentices: A new command I give you…

This chant is an Intercessory Prayer from the Christian Orthodox service called “Paraklesis”: (Greek: Παράκλησις, Slavonic: молебенъ) or Supplicatory Canon in the Byzantine Rite, is a service of supplication for the welfare of the living. … The most popular Paraklesis is that in which the supplicatory canon and other hymns are addressed to the Most Holy Theotokos (the Mother of God).

 

The second phrase starts as most likely referring to John 13: 34-35
