Ashley Mackie wanted to do something special for her beloved nine-year-old Alaskan Malamute Maggie May before she was put to sleep on Monday.
Maggie May had been suffering from severe arthritis for around a year and Ms Mackie knew she did not have long left to enjoy her favourite pastime – playing the snow.

Russia Today: Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters has condemned Swedish prosecutors who yesterday dropped a rape investigation into WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange, saying the whole thing was “a complete bogus set-up” from the beginning.

Russia Today: In a wide-ranging dismantling of mainstream media reporting on Julian Assange, award-winning journalist John Pilger has blasted the Guardian for its coverage of the WikiLeaks founder.
Pilger took aim at a Guardian editorial published this week, which made the case for not extraditing the Australian to the US, where he could face 175 years behind bars for possession and dissemination of classified information.
The BAFTA award-winning documentary filmmaker has offered his interpretation of what the editorial actually meant.

Iman, the 25-year-old rhino, died on Saturday after suffering significant pain from growing pressure of the uterine tumours to her bladder, according to the The Wildlife Department in eastern Sabah state on Borneo island.

Part 2: Here we pay another visit to the ‘Kinetica’ public art situated alongside the M2 motorway at Macquarie Park, Sydney Australia. In this presentation I will be showing a series of markers to a another ley line that streaches to the south east from Kinetica. They interact with the material world but they are never fully consolidated within it. DHWTY, Ancient Origins: King Henry VIII was the second monarch of England and reigned during the 16th century . Henry ruled his kingdom for almost 40 years, and he seems to have had a promising start at the beginning of his long reign. As time went on, however, Henry grew increasingly unpopular, and in the final years of his rule, both his physical and mental health severely declined.
Today, Henry is infamously remembered for his six wives, as well as for his initiation of the English Reformation. Nevertheless, there are also other aspects of King Henry’s life and reign, both positive and negative, that are often overshadowed by these two well-known issues.

Kristen C, Ancient Origins: Currently housed at the University of Cambridge Library, the historic Book of Deer is said to have been discovered by the University’s librarian, Henry Bradshaw, around 1860. It is said to be the only pre-Norman manuscript revealing tenth century northeastern Scottish culture’s society and religious traditions, and is the earliest known Gaelic document in existence.
Although fascinating to historians for multiple reasons, the greatest intrigue for those drawn to this ancient text lies within the handwritten notations made in its margins and other blank areas, and not necessarily within the text itself. The notations, also referred to as ‘notitiae’, are written in the type of Gaelic typically spoken by the upper classes in the early twelfth century region of Buchan at a time later than the original text, indicated land grants or ‘charters’ and represented the legal rights to land believed to have belonged to the original Deer monastery of Aberdeenshire in Scotland, thus presenting a clear connection to the Deer region.

Alicia McDermott, Ancient Origins : The monastery where the significant Scottish text called the ‘Book of Deer’ was created disappeared from the pages of history about 1,000 years ago. After a decade of excavations looking for the site, archaeologists believe they are finally on the correct path.
According to The Scotsman , an excavation team working with the Book of Deer project have unearthed a hearth, charcoal, pottery, post holes, and a layer of stone near Old Deer in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Carbon dating places the site to between 1147 and 1260, in the medieval monastic period and the stone and post holes suggest a circular building was once located at the site.

Nick Redfern, Mysterious Universe: Much has been said and written over the years regarding the monsters of Loch Ness, Scotland, and Aleister Crowley, the “Great Beast.” Crowley, who lived at the loch for a while, has been accused of manifesting the monsters, of having secret knowledge of their supernatural nature, and much more. The most accurate aspect of the Crowley-Nessie connection, however, came from none other than Crowley himself. In late 1933, Crowley was invited to write an article on the Loch Ness Monster controversy for the U.K. newspaper, Empire News, which was founded in 1884 and that is no more. Crowley took up the challenge: his article was published on November 12, 1933.
