An approaching Grand Solar Minimum is gaining evermore support. Even NASA appears to be on-board, with their recent SC25 prediction — though, predictably, they stay clear of the implications.
NASA’s forecast for the next solar cycle (25) reveals it will be the weakest of the last 200 years.
The maximum of this next cycle — measured in terms of sunspot number, a standard measure of solar activity level — could be 30 to 50% lower than the most recent one.

The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) admitted it wrongly reported Greenland’s record summer warmth, in what it called “good news from a climate perspective”…?

The DMI, a key player in monitoring Greenland’s climate, reported a “shocking” early-August temperature of between 2.7C (37F) and 4.7C (40.5F) at the Summit weather station, located some 3,202m above sea level at the center of the Greenland ice sheet.
This news quickly spread to every corner of the left-leaning web, like some nasty EOTW rash. But just a few days later the DMI posted a tweet retracting that record temp, saying that after a “closer look” (whatever that means exactly) it was revealed that the monitoring equipment had been giving “erroneous results”.
“Was there record-level warmth on the inland ice on Friday?” said the institute’s tweet dated Aug 08. “No! A quality check has confirmed our suspicion that the measurement was too high.”

I about wholeheartedly support what is said here but I’ve never heard that Ffridd means ‘forest’ before. I had an encounter with a Faerie when I was 8 or 9 years old. I don’t remember a lot of it myself, although I definitely remember it happening.
Luckily my Mum was there too and has told the story so many times since it happened, I couldn’t forget it if I tried!
I live in Dublin now raising my own children, but back in 1972 when we had our ‘encounter’, we were living outside of Bunclody in the County Wexford.
So, the day I encountered the Faerie dog had been like any other day. I was after getting off the school bus to find that, once again, Mum was late and not there in the car to drive me home.

I was driving towards Long Sutton in Lincolnshire en route to stay with my friends Paul and Ann Andrews.

Even for a seasoned otherworld traveller like me the months prior to this journey had been unusual. Orbs and coloured lights increasingly flashed around my country cottage, middle-of-the-night telephone calls on landline and mobile that when answered only gave out peculiar sounds, or sometimes nothing at all. Concluding one international conversation with a friend in Australia an American voice sinisterly cut in with his own: ‘Bye now!’

Emails, scores of them, failed to arrive. Someone had been in my home; I noticed things missing, significant things mostly. My mobile phone went walkabout for nearly 3 months (and then turned up in a place that I regularly searched through – the door pocket of my car), a strikingly aromatic piece of palisander wood that Peruvian shaman, Inti Caesar had given to me and safely stored documents also vanished. Then there were the shadow people, who sometimes walked past my windows, and inside my home, in daylight and at night time – and it wasn’t just me who saw them either. I would regularly hear knocking on my windows at night but there was never anybody there. Sometimes flashlights would shine through the back windows. I frequently heard garbled voices inside my home; two mystified visitors heard them as well.

Several Navy officers who witnessed the now-famous Nimitz UFO encounter in 2004 say “unknown individuals” showed up after the event and made them turn over data recordings and videos, according to Popular Mechanics.

For several days in November 2004, a Navy missile cruiser sailing around 100 miles (160 kilometers) off the coast of southern California detected strange radar signals emanating from an object in the sky. The signals were erratic and didn’t seem to match those given off by known aircraft. The Navy then deployed fighter jets to catch a closer glimpse of the strange object, and one succeeded in recording a blurry, black-and-white video that was, to the government’s chagrin, publicly released in 2017 along with two other videos of UFO sightings from years later.

Fairies and the dead have always had some ill-defined relationship, but in an account of folk beliefs in North East Scotland, I came across this fascinating note:

“It is said that, if a person dies of consumption, the fairies steal the soul from the body and animate another person with it.” (Shaw, The history of the province of Moray, 1827, p.278)

In the far north of Scotland, fairy abductions of humans can include not just a physical kidnapping but the abstraction of a person’s vital essence, leaving an inanimate stock behind: their soul is in Faery and a lifeless shell remains.  Related to this may be the Shetland belief that trows can only appear in human form if they can find someone who’s not been protected by a ‘saining’ or blessing. There is one story in which two trows attend a Yule dance in the form of two small boys whose mother had forgotten to bless them before she went out for the night’s festivities.  When they were exposed for what they were, the trows vanished from the dance, but the boys didn’t return to their beds.  They were found the next day dead in a deep snowdrift.  Fairy ‘possession’ can lead to real or simulated death, then, as well as following on from it.

There are many types of fairy in Ireland, some more risky than others, and some to be avoided due to their habits rather than out of any particular malevolence. Such a one is the Gan Ceanach, whose name means “Without Love”.

Although you might think such a title would indicate a friendless creature of a lonely nature lacking in social graces of poor prospects and uncertain personal hygiene, nothing could be further from the truth! The Gan Ceanach is the Casanova of the Sidhe, a breaker of hearts and infamous libertine.
