Waking Times: We tend to look at death as the end of a life, but surely there’s more to the story than that. And while we know that people have very similar stories to tell after a near-death experience, often speaking of a tunnel of light and then being returned to the mortal world, we rarely consider what happens to our dreams as we approach the end.
For years, Dr. Christpher Kerr and his team at Hospice Buffalo in New York State have been documenting and studying the dreams of patients as they approach death. Dr. Kerr’s shows something fascinating and inspiring about the last stage of life: the people we love who’ve already died are there on the other side waiting for us. It’s as if those friends, family members and loved ones who’ve already left this world are just beyond the veil waiting for us, communicating in dreams.

Science News: Not long ago, it was discovered that the world’s sea levels were substantially higher than they are today. However, this fact seems to have gotten lost amidst the cries of global warming and concerns about rising sea levels.
In 2008, an archaeological dig at a fort in Kent revealed a medieval boating dock — miles from where the British coast now lies. This means that the ocean levels 2,000 years ago were significantly higher than they are today, and reached much further inland than previously thought. An English Heritage archaeologist named Tony Wilmott commented, “It is widely known that Richborough Roman Fort was the gateway to Roman Britain 2,000 years ago. But what is really exciting is that we have actually found the Roman foreshore while digging in a deep trench alongside the remains of a Roman wall.” Wilmott went on to say that there had been a strong sense of curiosity surrounding the fallen Roman fort, and that the finding of the Roman harbor was quite engaging.

Dead but Dreaming, Neil Rushton: The faeries mean different things to different people. There is a great range in their taxonomy; they can be the archetypal characters found in faerie tales, folkloric entities existing in a liminal reality, animistic nature spirits responsible for the propagation of flora, and a host of culturally-coded modern beings, including, but not limited to, extraterrestrials and certain creatures that can manifest during altered states of consciousness. Despite the 20th-century Disneyfication of the faeries, they have retained many of their traditional ontologies, which has allowed their incorporation into some new interpretations about their authenticity as a phenomenon – as both a fossilised folk belief system, and as a potential dynamic epistemological reality in contemporary culture.

The Fairyist: There are two (anonymous) census forms: one for witness accounts and one for second-hand accounts (experiences of grandma, uncle, friend etc). Confidentiality is assured and, in the case of publication, personal details will be changed to assure anonymity.

The Guardian, Esther Adley: They are among the most famous and most enigmatic mysteries in all of archaeology: how did neolithic builders, using only stone, wooden and bone tools, carve Stonehenge’s bluestone pillars from the hilltops of western Wales – and how on earth did they transport them more than 230km (143 miles) to Salisbury plain?
Now, an excavation has found intriguing new evidence of the method by which the huge stones were chiselled out of the rock face at two craggy outcrops of the Preseli hills in Pembrokeshire.
The location of the two monolith quarries, according to the archaeologists, undermines the theory that the stones were taken to Wiltshire by sea, instead suggesting the two-ton blocks, up to 80 in number, were dragged or carried over land.

Two years ago, the Central Intelligence Agency declassified and released more than 12 million files as part of its new online CIA Records Search Tool, or CREST. Since then, journalists and sleuths have been poring over the documents in search of any new information or clues to some of the longstanding mysteries surrounding the CIA and some of the spookier stuff the intelligence agency has gotten into over the years.
