More than 800,000 songbirds were illegally killed on a British military base in Cyprus in the autumn to supply restaurants serving a local delicacy, environmentalists said.
Levels of illegal trapping of birds such as robins and black caps remain around their highest levels at the British territory since monitoring began in 2002, the RSPB and Birdlife Cyprus said.
And efforts to remove non-native Australian acacia trees which have been planted on Ministry of Defence land to lure the birds have stalled after the trappers organised large protests and a blockade.

The medieval Welsh stories contained in what has become known as The Mabinogion hold many faerie motifs, and certainly resonate a magical folkloric ambience. This is an introductory overview of some of the stories from the collection. It only scratches the surface, but the references suggest some possibilities for further study into these preternatural tales.

It has been an exciting time for Irish archaeology as many ancient finds have been uncovered in recent months. The latest discovery is one of the most thrilling of all according to local experts. Archaeologists in Meath, in central Ireland, have unearthed a passage tomb cemetery – and it is several millennia old. This find is being hailed as the most important discovery from the megalithic period in Ireland for half a century and is expected to increase our knowledge of some of the first farmers in Europe and stone age society.

Dr Katherine Horton gives a short introduction into remote neural monitoring: how it can be done and what to expect when it is applied to humans.
Joshua Cutchin‘s new book is his best yet, and deeply examines the ancient folklore surrounding children who are supposedly taken from their homes and parents by denizens of the “fairy realm.” Don’t make the mistake that he believes in a literal interpretation. He makes this clear in the first interview he gave for the book.
Throughout the interview, one of the themes (as in the book) is that there are very definite parallels between this phenomenon and the “hybrid” lore of UFO abduction literature. These comparisons have of course been made before, but Cutchin’s book also points out the similarities between fairy lore and Bigfoot encounters, as well as the recent focus on wilderness disappearances (think Missing 411.)

To an outsider, a researcher rather than an experiencer, it may look as if alien and fairy abductions are the same thing. Take it from someone who has had multiple experiences with both, and others, they most definitely are not. – Ellis
There is probably no cryptid out there that is as sighted, talked about, and as well-known as Bigfoot. It is the rock star of cryptids, the one that even people with no interest at all in cryptozoology have heard of, perhaps only second to the Loch Ness Monster. Ask most people what they think these creatures are and you will more likely than not get the answer that they are some sort of massive undiscovered ape-like animal that lurks in remote areas of the world. Yet, what if Bigfoot is, at least in some cases, no animal at all, or at least not like any known by us? What if these creatures are something from not only beyond our understanding, but from beyond our very reality?
